She Sang
She sang: like no bird has sung
Higher than a snowy peak
Her voice in the clear air,
Clearer than air
She sang: like no-one has sung
For words were taken
Beyond words to
Words not heard before
She sang: and her voice was light,
All light and alight
And we all sang with her
(Although we didn't sing)
She sang: and seconds slipped
Into space, and space
Was rings whirling
To its deepest core
For as long as she sang. |
