Red Wheelbarrow
left out
in the rain
lacking the size
and strength
to carry much
but perfectly-
proportioned
for children
to push
their dreams
to where
chickens
produce
magnificent
white eggs
Note: a poem produced for a local Stanza group set the task of creating a take on William Carlos Williams' poem The Red Wheelbarrow: "so much depends/upon/a red/wheelbarrow/glazed with rain/water/beside the white/chickens". |
