Riviera reverie

I’m passing Valldemossa
And driving on to Deia
With the clarity of a crystal sea
And silver groves of olive trees

My mind turns in a switchback ride
Takes the turns in my switchback life
Memories in a riviera reverie

Oh the lives that I left behind
The paths that I couldn’t find
Like the curves in a road that winds
Through melodies and mystery
Memories in a riviera reverie

I’m driving by the dry-stone walls
As the highway climbs and falls
A kaleidoscope of misty hills
Movie scenes and picture stills

My mind turns in a switchback ride
Takes the turns in my switchback life
Memories in a riviera reverie

Oh the lives that I left behind
The paths that I couldn’t find
Like the curves in a road that winds
Twists and turns a thousand times
And leaves me tangled on a tree

And now I’m leaving Deia
And driving on to Soller
Shadows and shafts of sunshine
On headlands of scented pine

My mind turns in a switchback ride
Takes the turns in my switchback life
Memories in a riviera reverie

Oh the lives that I left behind
The paths that I couldn’t find
Like the curves in a road that winds
Through melodies and mystery
Memories in a riviera reverie
